Between the panoramic mountain views, Andean animals, luxury wooden cabins with jacuzzis and mouth-watering Peruvian cuisines, Mountain View Experience is the most beautiful accommodation in Sacred Valley, Peru, that you will treasure forever.

Mountain View Experience has become so popular amongst travelers coming to Peru and even amongst travel influencers on Instagram. The first time I visited Peru, I stayed in Sacred Valley for 2 months and found myself staying at Mountain View 4 times! The second time I travelled to Peru, I again could not help myself a handful more times.
I don’t know what keeps me coming back more: the cutest llamas that come to visit you at your outdoor jacuzzi, the divine restaurant or the breathtaking mountain views that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own eco-cabin tipi.
There is a reason why this unique stay is of the most popular in all of Peru. And why staying here should be at the top of your itinerary for Sacred Valley.
WHY IS MOUNTAIN VIEW EXPERIENCE SUCH A UNIQUE STAY?
THE PROPERTY:
Mountain View Experience has the perfect blend of Peruvian essence, luxury and Andean adventure. You can tell how much love and intention has been poured into creating a sanctuary at Mountain View where visitors can enjoy relaxing in modern luxuries while connecting with nature and the powerful energy of Valle De Sagrado.
Their eco-friendly A-frame cabins are so unique because of their location. From every cabin you get to enjoy the most beautiful views of the Sacred Valley mountains. With Chicon Mountain being the star of the show.
Mountain View really thought of everything you need when it comes to being comfortable in your cabin. The showers are amazing, you have robes for the hot tub, the beds feel like a cloud and you can sit around a fire outside your cabin as you enjoy the starry skies or light an inside fire when its chilly. They created a beautiful ambience in every cabin that feels so natural yet modern.
THE ANDEAN ANIMALS:
As if the view isn’t enough, they have their very loved Llamas and Alpacas on the property that roam freely through the hills all day. And they come to say hello to you at your own private jacuzzi. What more could you ask for??
There are also horses, donkeys, turkeys, ducks, goats and sheep that roam around Mountain View and make the space that much more magical.
RESTAURANT & ACTIVITIES ON SITE:
When you aren’t enjoying the breathtaking views from the comfort of your own cabin, you can indulge in the tastiest meals and traditional Peruvian drinks at the restaurant (you need to try the Cacao!). The llamas, donkeys and goats love hanging around the outside of the restaurant which provides you with a lot of entertainment. But they are most likely waiting for guests to feed them the corn husks from the baskets around the restaurant. They just know there are treats waiting for them.
There are also amazing activities to do at Mountain View and within the surrounding area during your stay. We will cover all of these a bit later on in this post.
Everything I have mentioned, and so much more, is all part of the Mountain View Experience. It is truly one of the most unique stays to choose from in all of South America because of how special the experience is.
If you have time, I would highly recommend staying for at least 2 nights. This gives you the opportunity to not only relax in luxury but really immerse yourself in everything that Mountain View Experience has to offer.
WHERE IS MOUNTAIN VIEW?
Just 40km North of Cusco is the small Andean village of Maras. And Mountain View is situated in the beautiful hills just a little bit down from the village.
Both times that I visited Sacred Valley, I lived in Maras Village. Once in a homestay and once in an AirBnB out in the farmlands. It felt so special to be able to immerse in the local village life during this time. The people of Maras are so warm and welcoming. And the beauty in and around the village just never ceased to amaze me.
About 3km before you enter the main square of Maras, you will take a turn-off to the right that leads you to Mountain View. It is on the same road that takes you to the Maras Salt Mines. You definitely won’t miss the property as you drive down that road.
You can follow the directions to Mountain View from Google Maps Here.
HOW TO GET THERE?
If you have your own transport, getting to Maras from Cusco or Urubamba is easy. And such a beautiful drive around the mountain pass. From Cusco it is about an hour and 20 minutes to Mountain View. It is an easy drive on well-kept roads.
If you are coming from Ollantaytambo side or Pisac, you will drive all the way straight to Urubamba. Then take the turn off by the bridge that crosses the Urubamba River. The switch-back road will lead you up to the entrance of Maras where you turn off to go to Mountain View.
You can also arrange a private taxi from your destination to Mountain View – they would be more than happy to help you arrange a reliable taxi.
PUBLIC BUS:
If you are taking the bus from Cusco, you can catch a bus from Terminal Terrestre Cusco to Urubamba. It takes around 1-1.5 hours to reach Urubamba by public bus. But you will be getting off at the Paradero Maras-Moray Bus Stop about 15 minutes before Urubamba.
You can just ask the bus driver to stop at the “Maras Entrada”. 95% of the time, there are local taxis waiting there for people to get off the bus to take them to Maras. If no one is there, a local taxi will pitch up. Or a collectivo bringing people from Urubamba to Maras will drive past to collect people waiting at the bus stand. The Maras collectivos only operate a few times a day. So it is best to get one of the local taxis.
The taxi or collectivo will need to drop at the road that leads to Mountain View. Keep your eye out for the first road to the right with a small artisan shop and quad bike agency on the corner. This is where you need to get out and walk about 17 minutes the rest of the way to Mountain View. Or you can ask the local taxi to drive you all the way for an extra few Soles.
COLLECTIVOS:
The same goes for the collectivos from Cusco to Urubamba. Collectivos are the public transport vans in Peru. You will do the same as above but you will catch the Collectivo from Estacion de Colectivos Para Urubamba y Ollantaytambo in Cusco.

I was actually living in Maras when this cabin was being built. It was an honor to see the way the rocks and mud was laid out in the same pattern you see on corn – creating a strong foundation and a stunning architectural design.

THE UNIQUE RESTAURANT:
When I say that dining at the Mountain View restaurant is a whole experience, I am way underselling how actually amazing it is.
No matter what you choose to order, your mouth is going to water at the delicious smells of the Peruvian flavors and your taste buds are going to be left so satisfied. The meals are prepared using local ingredients and authentic flavors.
I’ve personally indulged in so many of their dishes and I literally cannot choose which one I loved more. But if I HAD to give you an answer, I would say that the meal that surprised me the most with how tasty it was is the Lomo Saltado Al Pisco and a dish you cannot miss out on trying is the Filet Mignon. Okay one more, because I can’t help myself, the Pasta Artesanal is so good!!
And once again, as if the food isn’t impressive enough, the restaurant has been built with giant glass windows to enjoy your meal with a breathtaking view.
Even if you do not stay overnight in the cabins, you can still come to Mountain View to enjoy the food, appreciate the view and play with the Andean animals.
You can view the full menu here.

Is there anything more majestic than riding wild and free through the hills with a snow-capped mountain view?? You can enjoy a peaceful ride on horse-back with a guide from Mountain View along the rolling hills of Maras.
HOT TUB SERVICE:

ATV TOURS:
For all of my fellow adventure lovers, I can’t even explain how much fun exploring the Maras plains on at ATV is. This was one of my favorite experiences in all of Peru because of how thrilling and mind-blowingly beautiful the nature is as you make your way from one view to the next.

When they say that their picnic experiences are magical, it truly is an enchanting and creative way to spend your afternoon at Mountain View. The Maras picnics allow you to slow down, relax and be fully present in the beauty of the Sacred Valley mountains. Your picnic includes a cheeseboard with fruit and fresh bread, wine, hot drinks and watercolors to paint your own painting as a Mountain View memory to hold onto forever.
